<strong>Rifugio Citt\u00e0 di Mantova (3455m).<\/strong> Il mesure <strong>6369 m<\/strong> de long et le d\u00e9nivel\u00e9 positif total est de <strong>1094 m.<\/strong><br \/>\nLa dur\u00e9e approximative de l&rsquo;ascension est de <strong>3h24<\/strong>. Le sentier est class\u00e9 dans la cat\u00e9gorie de difficult\u00e9 <strong>EE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Le refuge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/fr\/refuges\/#mantova\">Citt\u00e0 di Mantova<\/a>, inaugur\u00e9 en 1984, doit sa cr\u00e9ation \u00e0 un \u00e9v\u00e9nement tragique : en mai 1978, quatre alpinistes de Mantoue ont trouv\u00e9 la mort pr\u00e8s du nez du Lyskamm, emport\u00e9s par une avalanche. Les familles des victimes ont fait don d&rsquo;une somme d&rsquo;argent aux guides de Gressoney pour les remercier de l&rsquo;\u00e9norme travail accompli lors des op\u00e9rations de secours : les guides ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d&rsquo;utiliser cette somme pour construire un refuge, et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la contribution de plusieurs autres organismes, le refuge \u00ab Citt\u00e0 di Mantova \u00bb a finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9 en septembre 1984. Cette page d\u00e9crit l&rsquo;itin\u00e9raire court mais techniquement difficile pour y acc\u00e9der : il faut en effet traverser le <em>glacier du Garstelet<\/em>, ce qui n\u00e9cessite de savoir utiliser des crampons et un piolet sur la glace.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23558\" style=\"width: 505px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/gnifetti-retro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23558\" class=\"wp-image-6248 size-portfolio\" title=\"La capanna Gnifetti\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/gnifetti-retro-495x400.jpg\" alt=\"Le refuge Gnifetti descendant de la chapelle\" width=\"495\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/gnifetti-retro-495x400.jpg 495w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/gnifetti-retro-845x684.jpg 845w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-23558\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">La capanna Gnifetti<\/p><\/div>\n<p>La \u00ab\u00a0Capanna Gnifetti\u00a0\u00bb, comme on l&rsquo;appelle commun\u00e9ment, se trouve \u00e0 l&rsquo;endroit o\u00f9 un petit bivouac a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit en 1876 : agrandi plusieurs fois au cours des ann\u00e9es suivantes, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 enti\u00e8rement reconstruit en 1967 (\u00e0 l&rsquo;occasion du centenaire de la constitution de la section CAI de Varallo), et le r\u00e9sultat est le refuge que nous pouvons admirer aujourd&rsquo;hui, qui surplombe une paroi rocheuse abrupte derri\u00e8re le glacier du Garstelet.<\/p>\n<p>Jusqu<strong>&lsquo;au refuge Mantova<\/strong>, l&rsquo;itin\u00e9raire, class\u00e9 EE, est long mais pas techniquement exigeant. Jusqu&rsquo;au col Salza, on monte en suivant l&rsquo;itin\u00e9raire commun au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/fr\/sentieri\/punta-telcio-2833m-sentier-7b\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">SENTIER 2<\/span>\n                <\/a> (Lago Blu, Punta Telcio) et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/fr\/sentieri\/col-salza-2882m-sentier-6b\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">AU SENTIER 6B<\/span>\n                <\/a> (Orestes Hutte, col Salza). Contrairement \u00e0 6B, 6A n&rsquo;atteint pas le col Salza mais vire au nord-est lorsqu&rsquo;il ne reste plus que quelques centaines de m\u00e8tres. Seule la toute derni\u00e8re section sur les rochers menant au refuge demande de l&rsquo;attention, car il est n\u00e9cessaire dans certains passages de s&rsquo;appuyer sur les mains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Du Mantova au Gnifetti<\/strong>, en revanche, l&rsquo;itin\u00e9raire (le sentier n&rsquo;a pas de marques) est EEE : il faut absolument des crampons et un piolet pour traverser le glacier, qui (bien que court) ne doit jamais \u00eatre sous-estim\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Mantova et Gnifetti sont les bases d&rsquo;o\u00f9 partent toutes les exp\u00e9ditions vers les destinations \u00ab\u00a0orientales\u00a0\u00bb de la cha\u00eene Rosa<em>(Punta Gnifetti\/Capanna Margherita, Punta Dufour, Piramide Vincent, Punta Parrot, Punta Zumstein, Corno Nero, travers\u00e9e va tout droit vers le col Salza (sur la photo ci-dessous, le col est l\u00e0-haut, o\u00f9 l&rsquo;on voit le ciel).<strong> Le 6A part au contraire \u00e0 droite<\/strong>, en direction du refuge o\u00f9 nous pourrions d\u00e9vier vers la gauche pour atteindre le col Salza. <strong>Au lieu de cela, la 6A continue vers la droite<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23547\" style=\"width: une croix de fer solitaire incrust\u00e9e dans la roche, avec une inscription \u00ab\u00a0<em>JBA 1885<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, au sujet de laquelle je n&rsquo;ai pas encore pu trouver d&rsquo;informations rejoindrait l&rsquo;Alta Luce (il est en effet possible de monter \u00e0 l&rsquo;Alta Luce et, de l\u00e0, de poursuivre en direction du refuge Mantova sans devoir n\u00e9cessairement revenir au Colle Salza). La mont\u00e9e est assez directe vers le refuge: ce n&rsquo;est que vers la fin qu&rsquo;il faudra peut-\u00eatre mettre les mains dans les passages les plus raides (sur la photo ci-dessous, \u00e7a a l&rsquo;air beaucoup plus raide que \u00e7a ne l&rsquo;est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9). Le sentier vient \u00e0 toi par la gauche, et c&rsquo;est remarquable le sentiment que tu \u00e9prouves quand tu y arrives parce que jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 une seconde avant, tu te d\u00e9battais entre des tas de rochers escarp\u00e9s, et une seconde plus tard, tu plonges dans cette terrasse en bois poli, totalement \u00e0 l&rsquo;horizontale, \u00e0 quelques secondes d&rsquo;un Coca Z\u00e9ro bien m\u00e9rit\u00e9 au comptoir ! Nous sommes enfin au refuge <strong>Citt\u00e0 di Mantova, \u00e0 3455 m d&rsquo;altitude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23549\" style=\"width: 505px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l&rsquo;ancienne partie en pierre, ouverte en 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Cette image de Google Earth montre la derni\u00e8re section de l&rsquo;itin\u00e9raire, \u00e0 partir de la zone situ\u00e9e \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du refuge d&rsquo;Oreste, avec quelques points remarquables mis en \u00e9vidence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" Gnifetti.<\/strong><\/h1>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Remarque importante<\/span><\/strong>: bien que le tron\u00e7on <strong>traversant le glacier du Garstelet <\/strong>soit assez court, son danger ne doit pas \u00eatre sous-estim\u00e9. La piste est toujours bien marqu\u00e9e et le glacier n&rsquo;est pas tr\u00e8s raide, mais perdre l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre peut avoir des cons\u00e9quences tr\u00e8s graves. Tu as besoin de <strong>crampons \u00e0 glace<\/strong> (et non de crampons), d&rsquo;un <strong>piolet, d&rsquo;un casque<\/strong> et tu dois savoir effectuer la man\u0153uvre d&rsquo;auto-arr\u00eat sur la glace. Apr\u00e8s avoir atteint l&rsquo;extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 du glacier, une simple \u00e9chelle m\u00e8ne au sommet du relief, d&rsquo;o\u00f9 tu peux facilement descendre de quelques m\u00e8tres pour entrer dans le refuge. Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, on pouvait suivre une piste plus basse, qui arrive au pied d&rsquo;une courte paroi verticale assez difficile. La premi\u00e8re est tir\u00e9e de l&rsquo;une de mes cartes du Mont Rose datant de 1930. La seconde provient de Google Maps (la photo date de 2017, presque cent ans plus tard). Il y a 100 ans, le refuge se trouvait sur une petite \u00eele, l\u00e9ch\u00e9e par la mer de glace qui l&rsquo;entourait.
