class=\"wp-caption-text\">The view of the Lys from the top of Biel<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Trail <strong>15<\/strong> is a loop trail connecting <strong>Gressoney-La-Trinit\u00e9 (1,627 m) to Stafal (1,825 m). It is <\/strong> <b>11,955 m <\/b>long <b>, with <\/b>a total elevation gain of <b>425 m.<\/b><br \/>\nThe estimated time for the hike is <strong>3 hours and 30 minutes<\/strong>. The trail is rated of difficulty <b>E<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">A loop trail connecting Gressoney-La-Trinit\u00e9 to its hamlet, Stafal. You walk along the state highway for only a few, very short stretches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The &#8220;right&#8221; half of the loop (the one facing east) climbs up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/refuges\/#morgenrot\">Morgenrot<\/a> restaurant, passing through the beautiful hamlet of <strong>Orsia (1,735 m)<\/strong>, goes past the <strong>Bedemie<\/strong> ski lift, and then descends into the valley along a dirt road.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The \u201cleft\u201d half of the loop (the west-facing section) starts from the large parking lot at Punta Jolanda, follows the Lys along the orographic right bank (the left bank if you\u2019re heading uphill), and after a steep climb reaches the beautiful hamlet of <strong>Biel<\/strong>, where it then continues toward Stafal, entering a shady trail that passes behind the houses of <strong>Anderbatt<\/strong> and emerges at the departure plaza of the Sant\u2019Anna Cable Car.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35821\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35821\" class=\"wp-image-35779 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"The climb to the Morgenrot restaurant\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-1030x687.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-1500x1000.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FOTO10-1-705x470.jpg 705w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-35821\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The climb to the Morgenrot restaurant<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Anyone can hike this trail: the total elevation gain is very small, and the ascent gets steep at just two specific points\u2014on the east side, the climb toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/refuges\/#morgenrot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morgenrot<\/a>, and on the west side, the climb toward <strong>Biel<\/strong>. The western branch, all the way to the town of <strong>Biel<\/strong>, can also be traveled along the left bank of the Lys, following a section of trail marked 9A (there are three bridges between <strong>Punta Jolanda<\/strong> and <strong>Biel<\/strong> that allow you to cross from one bank to the other).<\/p>\n<p>This guide describes the counterclockwise route, which is my favorite because the stretch of dirt road leading down from <strong>Bedemie is <\/strong>less tedious when traveled downhill.<\/p>\n<p>It can, of course, be hiked in either direction, and even in sections (for example, from <strong>Stafal<\/strong>, taking the shaded trail to the right down to <strong>Tache<\/strong>, or from <strong>Orsia<\/strong> \u2014where there is a small parking lot\u2014hiking up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/refuges\/#morgenrot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morgenrot and <\/a>down to <strong>Stafal<\/strong>), stopping at any point and returning to the starting point using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/local-bus-schedules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public buses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<div Continue until you reach the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/lift-facilities\/\">Stafal-Sant&#8217;Anna cable car departure station .<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll see the yellow markings 15 and 9a on a cable car support beam.
