Grande\/Gr\u00f2ss Albez\u00f2<\/strong> and arrives at <strong>Valfredda Pass (2807m).<\/strong> It is <strong>4285m<\/strong> long and the total positive elevation gain is <strong>1026m<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe approximate time for the ascent is <strong>3h03<\/strong>. The trail is rated <strong>EE<\/strong> difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>A wild and very little-used trail, it ascends the Valfredda valley to the pass of the same name. On the opposite side of the trail from Lys, one can observe for the duration of the route the Valdobbiola valley forking upward, dividing into the two gullies leading to Alpetto Pass (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/sentieri\/alpetto-pass-trail-9\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">TRAIL 9<\/span>\n                <\/a>) on one side, and Valdobbiola Pass (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/sentieri\/valdobbiola-pass-trail-9a\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">TRAIL 9A<\/span>\n                <\/a>) on the other.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s fairly well-marked, except for the final stretch leading to the pass, past the scree field: there\u2019s practically no trace of the trail left, so you have to figure out the route yourself while trying (with some difficulty) to spot the next yellow marker. You can&#8217;t go wrong, though: just &#8220;go up&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Trail 5A does not start from the bottom of the valley: one must first arrive at the village of <strong>Alpenzu Grande<\/strong> via the initial section of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/sentieri\/testa-grigia-trail-6\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">TRAIL 6<\/span>\n                <\/a>. Therefore, to the times given here, approximately 40 minutes should be added to the time required to travel the approximately 300 meters of elevation from the parking lot to Alpenzu Grande.<\/p>\n<p>Once at Valfredda pass you can continue, taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentierigressoney.it\/en\/sentieri\/corno-vitello-trail-5b\/\" class=\"sentiero-chip clickable-chip\">\n                    <i class=\"fas fa-hiking chip-icon-fa\"><\/i> \n                    <span class=\"chip-label\">TRAIL 5B<\/span>\n                <\/a>, to Corno Vitello, a peak just over 3000 meters that As soon as you reach the first tree on the narrow road, you\u2019ll see a yellow marker indicating Trail 5a heading uphill: take this detour and continue uphill until you reach the <strong>Mehr<\/strong> huts. The trail goes around the huts on the left and then turns to the right, climbing diagonally into the forest. Once past this change in slope you will be faced with a huge boulder: the trail goes around it on the left, after which the trail becomes uncertain again. Here you have to be careful, because you would be led to continue climbing: in fact the trail continues on the left almost level, if you look carefully you will in fact see some yellow bolts not far away. Wonderful day, of note was a small family of 3 ibex stationed right at the beginning of the snowfield: they did not flinch at all as I passed by, and I found them in the same spot on both the outward and return trips. Also, probably due to the rain the night before, ONE MILLION flies must have just hatched that day, which plagued my return practically from just below the snowfield to
