Well marked until about 2300 meters, when a rocky rampart is passed; from that point on, the trail is virtually invisible (only the yellow marker bolts have survived), and climbing to the Pass is a feat destined for stubborn and trained hikers, who will have to prepare to invent the route by continually trying to find the next marker. A GPX track uploaded to the cell phone makes it much easier.<\/p>\n<p>Even in late summer it is possible to find two snowfields (one just below the pass) that you have to cross directly: if cold temperatures are expected, it is advisable to bring crampons.<\/p>\n<p>From the Rissuolo Pass, with an extra half hour of effort, you can climb up to the panoramic <strong>Punta di Rissuolo (3,104 m).<br \/>\nWarning:<\/strong> There is no trail; there are a few cairns at the beginning of the route, while for the rest of the way, the rule is simple: you must head uphill, finding your own path (which runs entirely over steep, rocky terrain). As usual, while climbing up is always (relatively) easy, climbing down is not: so carefully assess your rock-climbing skills before deciding to give it a try.<\/p>\n<p>Also from the pass, continuing along the Valsesian trails <em>2B, 2C and 2<\/em>, one can access (respectively) the <strong>Black, Green and White lakes<\/strong> in Val Vogna.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<div We come out of the trees at about 1900 meters, continuing on steep grassy meadows where huts can be seen above: these are the lower (2012m) and upper (2137m) Ciampono huts<strong>. <\/strong> can find trail markers here and there, but they are so widely spaced and so difficult to ferret out among the thousands of stones (and, especially, in the morning with the sun in front of you!) that you have to perforce proceed by intuition, or (better) by relying on the GPS track loaded on a navigator.<\/p>\n<p>Broadly speaking, from here on, the path is divided into three parts.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Part 1: from the rampart to the gully<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Above us we can see, in the middle of the gully, a large hump: the trail goes over this hump on the When you come to lapping at the tail of a scree sloping down from above, you have to climb it by keeping to the left without ever stepping into it, staying on the edge between scree and grass. You ascend a first rocky step, and meet a second scree slope, which you cut by keeping it to the right. This snowfield will have to be overcome by climbing it: attempting to contour it perhaps leaves your feet dry but is definitely more strenuous and also dangerous, since the sides of the gully are very landslidey. The Alta Via Vidoni is from this point up to the Pass in common with Trail 8. I have always followed, going up, the red marks of the left trail (i.e., the Alta Via), because it seems less steep to me. On the way back, however, I always followed the right track (the yellow marks), because when descending they are very visible and entice to be followed :-)<\/p>\n<p>The second snowfield (if any) is much steeper than the first: if it is icy, crampons are mandatory. There are no particular technical difficulties, so mountaineering skills are not required, but you must be able to climb and, above all, descend a <strong>steep rocky slope<\/strong> where you will often need to use your hands to brace yourself against the ground.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep in mind that going up is much easier than going down, so as soon as you get past a spot where the climb is particularly difficult, try right away to see if you can make it down.<\/strong> If you do it, but with difficulty, it\u2019s much better to turn around and go back to the pass without taking any
